New ATB Registration Requirements

Effective July 1, students without a high school diploma or GED may only register at RACC as non-degree students. The catalog will be updated to reflect this policy change in the Enrollment Information section and the Financial Aid section will be updated to reflect the corresponding changes in financial aid regulations. This means that, effective Fall 2012, degree-seeking students without high school credentials no longer have the option to register for courses based on their placement test scores.
The process for students changing from non-degree to degree-seeking will be adjusted so that Records will check a student’s high school credentials prior to changing their status.

When we become aware students self-reporting credentials from questionable sources, the ACT database will be used to verify valid high schools. A letter will be developed to notify students if their credentials are deemed to be invalid. This letter will direct students to Ben if they want to appeal the decision, and Ben will work with PHEAA to resolve the issue.

We will contact students who have applied for Summer and Fall and have no high school credential to inform them of this change. Fall students will be encouraged to register for Summer courses.
