A student retaking the RACC Math Placement Test…
1) Is allowed one retake within 24 months of their most recent test.
2) Must wait at least one day before retaking the test.
3) Must not have attempted or completed any RACC math course for credit or non-credit in the previous 2 years.
4) Must understand that the new score will be the score used for course registration, even if it is lower than the original score.
Notes
- Students should be encouraged to study basic math and algebra before retesting. The MyMathTest information sheet can be distributed, and our library has dozens of math books for them to use in the library.
- Students insisting that they know math better before or after retaking the test may be interested in getting their math credit by CLEP exam or our in-house MAT-150 exam.
- Students placing into MAT-020 can complete MAT-020 early and then work towards a MAT-030 waiver in the same semester. Students placing into MAT-030/035 in fall or spring can take MAT-150/110 in the 10-week fall 2 or spring 2 session in the same semester, if they complete MAT-030/035 in the 1st four weeks and are in a differentiated section.
- Students who have missed a cutoff by one or two points may see Steve to request a one-time pre-req waiver to take the next higher level course, in lieu of retaking the placement test.
